visiter.
Aside from ramen and burgers, pizza is considered another major food group for most Filipinos.
While
Manila is no Naples or NYC when it comes to pizza, we’re still pretty fortunate
to have a good number of places that serve delicious slices of this popular
comfort food.
As the
local pizza scene continues to evolve and give customers more options outside
the usual pizza chain behemoths, it’s not surprising that the fast casual pizza
segment seems to be really hot right now.
Based on
looloo reviews submitted last year, we give you the top 5 pizza places in
Manila for 2014!
5. Mad for Pizza
Il Terrazzo, Tomas Morato, Quezon City, Metro Manila

But be
careful. These 10” pizzas are usually big enough to feed 2-3 people. Bringing
friends who aren’t big pizza fans? Not to worry as they also offer non-pizza
options like buffalo wings and fried mac and cheese.
4. NOLITA
Bonifacio
High Street Central, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila
Average
Rating for 2014: 4.02 / 5.00
NOLITA
Pizza, BGC, Philippines
Other
American favorites like their burger and fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich
are also popular, but their pizzas like their Chicken Parmesan, Buffalo Chicken
with Blue Cheese and Steak & Eggs, remain looloo reviewers’ favorite.
3. Steveston Pizza
UP Town
Center, Katipunan Ave., Quezon City. Metro Manila
Average
Rating for 2014: 4.19 / 5.00
Based in
Richmond, a city in the Canadian province of British Columbia, Steveston Pizza
isn’t your typical pizza chain expanding overseas seeking global domination.
Interestingly enough, they’re a small pizzeria in a village called Steveston
(hence their name) and their only branches outside of Canada are the two here
in the Philippines.

Not only do
they make sure to overload your pizza with toppings, they also see to it that
they use only the freshest and highest quality ingredients to make them. And if
you have spare dough (ha!) lying around, don’t forget that they also offer a ₱20,000 pizza!
2. Gino’s
Brick Oven Pizza
Average
Rating for 2014: 4.23 / 5.00
Gino’s
Brick Oven Pizza is known for their Neapolitan-style pizzas – pizzas with a
thin and soft (but slightly charred) crust that’s topped with simple tomato
sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil.

They also
offer speciality pizzas that have become crowd favorites like their Bianca
Verde (olive oil, kesong puti, ricotta, parmesan, basil, arugula), SMEGG
(homemade sausage, mushroom, egg, and gouda) and the BOMB (balsamic onions,
mozzarella, mushrooms, blue cheese).
Gino’s
Brick Oven Pizza was the only casual dining (a sit-down restaurant with table
service) pizza restaurant to make the list. Best to make reservations because
their places are small and tend to get packed quickly!
1. Project
Pie

Walk, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay, Metro Manila

Project Pie
was by far the looloo community’s choice for pizza in Metro Manila.
Project
Pie, Bluebay Walk, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay, Metro Manila
Manila
seemed to be Project Pie’s project pie as they opened up multiple locations and
spread themselves around the city like unli pepperonis.
Their
locations popped up like mushrooms all around the metro last year. What’s crazy
is that Project Pie is currently just a small American pizza company with like
3 branches in the States. So they actually have more branches here in the
Philippines! I guess that’s how much Filipinos love their pizza!
They introduced
the “build-your-own-pizza” concept to the Philippines and it instantly became a
hit. Seems that looloo folks really love the assembly line format where you get
to pick your sauce and pile on the toppings and pay one affordable price.
While you
may salivate at the vast quantity of choices available, Project Pie makes sure
quality and service isn’t sacrificed with lots of reviews also praising their
“fresh ingredients” and “friendly” staff.
Expériences, avis, critiques et commentaires, comme d’habitude sont les bienvenus.
