LA PERLE ... DES ROIS !
Etonnant
mm) et le requin-baleine 12 mètres pour un poids supérieur à 20 tonnes ;
y a peu.

L’on attend
A Chinese-Filipino resort owner in this island is also the owner of what
will be considered as the largest pearl in the world.
In an interview Monday, Richard King, chairman of the Crown Regency
Hotel, said that a group of gemologists from the Guinness Book of World Records
is expected to arrive here Dec.19-20 to formally inspect the pearl he calls as
the “Pearl of the Kings.”
Guinness currently recognizes the six-kilo “Pearl of Allah” now in the
United States as the largest pearl in the world.
“Based on our initial measurement, the ‘Pearl of the Kings’ weighs
around nine kilos and we are confident that we could be certified by the
Guinness Book of World Records,” King said.
He added that he inherited the pearl from his grandfather. It reportedly
came from the waters of Palawan like the “Pearl of Allah.”
Reports said that the “Pearl of Allah” also known as the “Pearl of Lao
Tzu” was given by a Muslim chieftain in the 70s and was found by a diver at
Brookes Point, Palawan.
“We have now decided to display the “Pearl of the Kings” at the
oceanarium park in the Crown Regency Hotel as one of its attractions.
“Aside from the pearl, our oceanarium also boasts of having the longest
oceanarium tunnel in the Philippines, having 30 meters length,” King said.
The “Pearl of Kings” although big is not considered as a non-nacreous
pearl having no iridescence or sheen; thus it is not considered a gem stone.
It is said to have come from a giant clam which produces the so-called
tridacna pearl.
The Crown Regency Hotels & Resorts are proud to exhibit a rare and
unique treasure of nature to the world.
The Pearl of the King will officially be introduced to the public this December at the Crown Regency Resorts & Convention Center's amazing Boracay Oceanarium as one of its star attractions.
The Pearl of the King will officially be introduced to the public this December at the Crown Regency Resorts & Convention Center's amazing Boracay Oceanarium as one of its star attractions.
The Pearl of the King is the world's largest pearl ever discovered. This
beautiful gemlike gift from nature is strong, resilient, and iridescent. It
gives off a colorful bright glow when light passes through its translucent exterior.
The pearl weighs an astonishing 9 kilograms. It measures 18 inches in diameter.
The Oceanarium presents a fabulous ocean habitat displaying marine
animals, especially large ocean dwellers such as sharks. It offers the closest
view and feel in nature one can experience in nature except when actually
swimming with fish in the sea itself. The exhibit will further highlight
antique maritime memorabilia entitled “Treasures of the Sea.” The extraordinary
exhibit is expected to draw more tourists to the beautiful island.
Pearl of the KingThe pearl comes from the Giant Clam Tridacna found in
the warm waters off the Philippines.
This largest of all clams can weigh 400 kg, stretch for 4 feet across,
and live for over 100 years. Sadly, man has been overfishing this now
diminishing, endangered species. Who knows if nature can therefore ever re-create
such a special pearl?
The Pearl of Allah
The closest comparison to the Pearl of the King is the famous Pearl of Allah, also known as the Pearl of Lao Tzu. It was discovered in May 7, 1934 by a diver in a giant clam off the shore of Brooke's Point, Palawan, Philippines. The pearl resembled a turbaned head. It is sized 24 centimeters in diameter (9.45 inches) and weighs 6.4 kilograms (14.1 lb). The pearl becomes world's most valuable pearl as it was previously the largest pearl ever discovered. Gemologist Michael Steenrod in Colorado Springs has appraised the pearl at $60,000,000 (1982) and $93,000,000 (2007).
